Traffic in Dehradun: New Flyovers and Big Plans to Fix the City’s Traffic Problems

The traffic in Dehradun is becoming a big headache for everyone living or visiting the city. Roads are packed with vehicles, and traffic jams are a common problem. But now, the government is working on some major plans to solve this issue and make travel easier in the city.

Traffic in Dehradun Is Getting Worse

In the last few years, the number of vehicles on the roads in Dehradun and across Uttarakhand has increased a lot. While roads and highways are being built to improve travel from cities like Delhi to Dehradun, the situation inside Doon city is still bad. As soon as vehicles enter the city, traffic slows down and roads get blocked.

To help fix this, the Public Works Department (PWD) has made a special plan to improve traffic in Dehradun.

Two New Elevated Roads: Rispana and Bindal Projects

Rajesh Sharma, head of the Uttarakhand PWD, said that under the Dehradun City Mobilization Plan, two big projects have been approved. These are new elevated roads (flyovers) to help reduce traffic on busy roads.

• An 11 km elevated road will be built over the Rispana river

• A 15 km elevated road will be built over the Bindal river

The Detailed Project Report (DPR) is already complete. Right now, work is going on to move people and services from these areas so construction can begin. As soon as this is done, building will start.

Another Flyover from Asha Rodi to Mohkampur

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is also building a ring road to manage traffic better. Along with that, a new flyover is planned from Asha Rodi to Mohkampur. This will help reduce pressure on the main roads and improve traffic in Dehradun even more.

Focus on Mussoorie Traffic and Parking

During the tourist season, Mussoorie sees a huge number of visitors, which adds to the traffic problems. Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi held a meeting with officials and local business owners. He asked them to make parking better and ensure tourists don’t face problems. All available parking areas should be used fully, he said.

Police Captain Controls Traffic in Rishikesh

In Rishikesh and Muni Ki Reti, roads are crowded beyond their capacity, especially during tourist season. To control the traffic, Tehri SSP Ayush Agarwal is personally supervising the roads. Even in the heat, police officers are working hard to keep traffic moving. They are asking for help from both tourists and locals.

To monitor traffic better:

• 40 CCTV cameras have been installed

• A control room has been set up at the police station

• Public announcement systems have been placed at 8 key points for better communication
